THE CLIENT
The Story Museum in Oxford is an unusual museum with immersive exhibitions showcasing a love of stories.
THE PROJECT
Award-winning celebrity photographer Cambridge Jones captured a gallery of rogues and rascals, wizards, witches and wild things, which unfolded through the Story Museum’s atmospheric and unfinished buildings.
As part of my membership of 26 Writers I was invited to respond to one of these 26 portraits of well-known children’s authors, pictured as their favourite character from children’s literature.
I was paired with children’s writer Jamila Gavin who had been pictured as Hanuman the Monkey God.
I attended a launch event at the Story Museum to give a personal reading of the piece and to see it in situ. The piece was on display in the Museum for a year.
TAKE A CLOSER LOOK
We were given a 62-word limit to complete the task and my final piece can be read at: storymuseum.org.uk/stories/26-characters-exhibition/26-writers-project/
